Job Summary: Meet with students to assist in the completion and processing of applications.Analyze and process financial aid documents, records and periodic reports.Responsible for timely analysis and preparation of all documents required to establish financial aid eligibility.Analyze and process financial aid documents to determine completion of forms and eligibility for financial aid. Inform student of any missing documents that may delay receipt of financial aid. Review documentation for accuracy to determine if file is complete and is to be awarded or if corrections must be processed.Act as resource to front desk personnel in dealing with students with unusual questions or angry/upset students.Assist with Prison Exchange Program.Utilize imaging system, currently Etrieve, scan and document all paperwork submitted by students.Work with individual advisors to determine outcomes for specific groups of students. (Divided alphabetically, by last name).

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Utilize imaging system (currently Etrieve), scan and index all paperwork submitted to determine students eligibility for financial aid.
  • Assist with scholarships.
  • Review student files to determine compliance with satisfactory progress requirements.
  • Inform students who may need to appeal to receive financial aid.
  • Act as a resource for the front desk staff.
  • Assist with questions concerning eligibility, satisfactory progress requirements and completion of paperwork.
  • Assist front desk employees with upset or angry students on an as needed basis.
  • Analyze and process financial aid documents to determine completion of forms and eligibility for financial aid.
  • Inform students of any missing documents that may delay receipt of financial aid.
  • Review documents for accuracy to determine whether file is complete and is to be awarded or if corrections must be processed.
  • Meet with students to assist in the completion and processing of applications. This may include helping complete forms and applications, answering questions, providing information, resolving problems, signing continuation of funding contracts and other related tasks.
  • Work with individual advisors to determine outcomes for specific group of students (divided alphabetically by last name).
  • Other duties as assigned.
Assist with financial aid presentations and information tables.
Answer telephones and assist at the Front Desk as needed.
Assist student in completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associates degree or a minimum of 60 semester credits.
  • Two (2) years of financial aid or related experience.


Trade off 1:1 in experience/education requirement.

Preferred Qualifications: Financial aid and customer service experience.Working in a stressful environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of computerized financial aid systems, preferably Banner. Knowledge of financial aid regulations and procedures. Knowledge of general office procedures. Knowledge of College policies and procedures. Communicate effectively with wide range of people from varied backgrounds. Organize and set priorities. Work well under pressure in a stressful environment. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, and ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
